There Color of a Dream Navigation
Freedom Precious Time All the Way
  Lonely Highway

There Soft, she doesn’t know that I am here
And I need no disguise
As she starts back into consciousness
And she raises her eyes

And she is power
And she is heaven
And she is there
But far away from me

And she says
Have you waited for long?
Feels like forever

Drifting, yet flying all the same
Unaware of the change
Another day, they twist together like a hurricane
Unaware of the change

And I'm falling for you . . .

Late, she’s probably on the road
How I wish I were there
In a while she’ll phone home on the telephone
How I wish I were there

I've been waiting so long . . .

Color of a Dream Midnight in Tetouan
The world is still wide awake
Voices from cafes
Whisper, whirl and disseminate
Lost past the Sebta gate
Cloaked women flee from the light
Pallor of blue-green doors riveted against the night

This is the color of a dream
Where I’m waiting, where I’m drawing near
Where your voice is all that I can hear

Fassi medina walls
Magnolia stained by the rain
That keeps on falling, flowing, following us into
The thousand emerald splotches of olive trees
I feel you warming against me
Like the sun on winter wheat

This is the color of a dream
Where I find you, I discover you
I can only be in love with you

Marrakech kasbah
The city color of rust
Your eyes are flames
That burn through all the wind and the dust
Of city sidewalks
The orange light of the night
Down to the train and the blackness of just holding on tight

This is the color of a dream
Where I hold you, where I’m loving you
Where the only thing that I can do… is fly

Navigation Through a solitary sunset
As Lampasas fades away
Towards the Eden of tomorrow
From the Hades of today
I am losing my afflictions
Through the friction of the will
And the edge of all my anger
To the softness of these hills

You’re an island, you’re a lamppost,
You’re a star
I can navigate to you wherever you are
You’re a light out along the water
A place I can come back to every time

The magenta blades of sunset
Cut across crape myrtle blooms
Weighted heavy with the rain that paints
The shadows of these rooms
And the lights along the harbor
Were a galaxy of stars
And her hands of painted henna
Marigold accented scars

Freedom  Take a walk through the thick of the park
Smell the draft of the storm blowing in
Heavy skies to the east growing dark
See the leaves tossed and cut by the wind

You can believe this is no holy place
No reverential self restraint
The heat of its beauty mingled with litter and paint
But here I am
Hopelessly free once again

Take a ride on the crest of the breeze
There’s no hindsight at this rate of speed
Freedom leaves only just what you need
And the fire hot between your knees

You can believe this is no saving grace
No self protection at this pace
The tune of its beauty sings through the wind in your face
But here I am
Hopelessly free once again

Nothing can be done
Nothing can be changed under the sun
I believe the change is me

Precious Time Screen door, slammed shut against the night
The two of us beneath the street lamp’s
Eerie ethereal light
Our voices intertwined
This silence makes me shake
I’m painfully awake and alive
And trying to get this right

Does it ever cross your mind
That we might just be losing
Precious time

That curve—that sweeping line of flesh
Serene and simple waist into back
Like the supple nape of her neck
This touch—a nebulous embrace
Her cloud flesh seeps evaporates
Evades the warmth of my face

Looking back one day we’ll find
That the touch of love takes such
Precious time

At night, I tread into your life
This sanctuary leads me away
From all of the things I fight
This hold, this intertwined goodnight
You bring me back to where I belong
Like morning clouds on the sky

And just then it crossed my mind
That simplicity is such
Precious time

All the Way  All the way
Conversation pieces clutter up this space
Bits of parallel distraction from the
Day to day
Minutes melting between thoughts and what we say
But not a minute fades that I don’t want you
All the way

Where the daylight finds me
I won’t look behind me
I only find release beside you

All the way
Sure as I would find that darkness follows day
Not a shred of me regrets these stolen
States of grace
Lost in longing and unwilling to escape
Though another night with you might blind me
All the way

All the way
From Conroe waterfront to San Francisco Bay
Every shower I traverse contains your
Warm embrace
Piscean essence of the love your eyes convey
Like these memories where I'm drowning in you
All the way

Lonely Highway Left coast green
Wooded road
Swoops and curves to the
Sea below
Like the Rhine plunged in redwoods
Veins of tarmac wend through these hills

I can’t hold you every time you leave
This lonely highway calling me

Vines on sand
Pounding coast
Saline winds are the
Summer’s ghost
If I know you I know this
Sun-gold water runs in your veins

Free as wind
Fine as snow
Where I am only
You would know
Driving back through these valleys
Nightfall wakes us both from this dream
